The S.S. Hiccup

Backtrack a few weeks....here is Jocelyn with my Mom in her "boat", appropriately named the S.S. Hiccup. See posts below on the background of the Hiccup. Even 5 weeks later, she still loves to "row" in this "boat" for a bit every morning! She's almost too long for it, but has been using it mostly to kick and "exercise" her long legs, so I think we have a few more weeks of it!

Truce?

Yes, truce! Jocelyn and I called a truce on the loud, random, shrill squawking that she was impressing herself with.

Sweet Dreams

Shhhhhhhhh!!!! I'm sleeping!!

Sweet Feets

What kind of photo shoot would it be WITHOUT my left arm in the air??
Today was a big day....Mommy attempted another photo shoot....there was some frustration getting my dress on, but I remained calm. Tee hee! She always gets so flustered, and I think it's funny! Just wait until she attempts to french braid this head of hair of mine! THAT'S gonna be a real treat for BOTH of us!!!

Going for a walk!

Don't I look really happy to be going for a walk in a backpack?? I was! A real sweet friend in Plano gave me this so that all THREE of us could go for a walk together! (Thanks Dr Bender and Micaela! ) Cotton is so happy that she can come along, too!

I WARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNED YOU!!!! WAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! I TOLD YOU I DON'T LIKE BAAAAAAAAAAATHS! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!
Seriously, can ANYONE help me OUT OF HERE????

Bath time!

Yep, you guessed it. I'm looking for the quickest way out of this tub.

What?? Did I hear the word LUNCH?? Yahoo! I thought I was going to have to do a few more "tricks" on my tummy time mat to get some lunch! This excites me very much!
"Tummy time" really isn't getting much better...I still don't like it as much as kicking around on my back like an upside down turtle. In fact, I tend to just "rest" like this when I'm on my tummy.
Yep, after a month of being here, I STILL have my crazy black hair! It's not falling out, but definitely getting longer! I suspect I'll have a ponytail by July 4th!
What I need is a set of maracas! My mom and dad can't dance AT ALL, but I can! I could teach them a thing or two I bet!

I LOVE TO KICK!

One Month Old!

YIPPEEEEE! I'm a month old! Being out here in the real world isn't so bad! I think I like it! I have gone for lots of walks in the stroller, I have been to my Daddy's office a couple of times, I have experienced the fun of sitting in the cell phone store for over an hour, and I have gone through LOTS AND LOTS of diapers! All in all, it's been a good first month! I'm not sure EXACTLY how much I weigh...plus, it's not polite to ask, but I think it's somewhere close to 8 1/2 pounds. Hard to believe some of my new friends weighed that much when they were born! My mom says "that's for the birds"! -----JOCELYN

"Look Mom! No hands! " I have tried and tried to sleep like this, but I don't really enjoy it as much as Jocelyn does!

Story Time

May 12, 2009

Story time with Dad.....She loves to hear him read Brown Bear...lots and lots of sound effects go along with this story that only a dad can master.

"If I keep my mouth open long enough, will my paci jump back in???" (Mom WISHES this is how a pacifier would find it's place again!)
May 7, 2009

If she looks frightened, SHE IS! Wouldn't you be frightened by a bow the size of a helicopter perched on YOUR head??? (Did I mention that Jocelyn looks JUST LIKE HER DADDY???)
May 6, 2009

Did I say Jocelyn was super sweet? Well, she is. But if you could HEAR what came out of this mouth, you would give in too. This was one of those "quit-taking-my-picture-and-fix-my-lunch" screams. It is sooooooooo dramatic, and that bottom lip just quivers. I'm pretty sure you'd fix her lunch ASAP, too!

Something tells me this was a conversation about politcs, hunting, or maybe that she should not even THINK about dating until she's 30.
April 21, 2009

Here is Aunt Amy....I think I see a cartoon bubble above her head that says "Jocelyn, I'm gonna spoil you rotten! " I believe this will be the aunt that gives her waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much candy, and may even take her to toilet paper a house or two when she's about 13.
April 21, 2009

Here are Jocleyn's grandparents...Grandaddy House and "Buddy". How excited are they????
April 28, 2009

Another of my favorite pictures....this is a Moses basket that my friend Erin sent for Jocelyn...she was "sunning" in the window in the basket when she got the hiccups, so my Mom propped her up to "help" her get through this little spell. DID I MENTION THAT JOCELYN HAS SOME CRAAAAAAAAZZZZY BLACK HAIR?? Jay had this same black hair when he was born....I did not. I was bald until I was walking I think. So, now my Mom and I call the Moses basket a "boat", because it looks like she's gazing out of a little boat. We even named it the "S.S. Hiccup".
April 25, 2009

Quite possibly my very favorite picture of Jocelyn to date....this was taken on the car ride home from the hospital....it's almost like you can see the cartoon box above her head that says "Tee hee! They're taking me home! They are gonna be in for a REAL TREAT!!!" And naturally, we HAVE been in for a treat...she has been an excellent baby! She sleeps 4 hours at a time (sometimes 5 1/2 hours!!!), and only squawks when she needs clean panties or a snack!
April 22, 2009

Here is "Poppa" and Jocelyn's yet-to-be-named Grammaw admiring their first grandbaby. If they ever thought Lubbock was a long way from Corpus Christi, I think they have confirmed that indeed IT IS!!!

April 22, 2009
I'm in love again! Jocleyn is just the sweetest baby in the whole world!
April 21, 2009 3:56 p.m
Jocelyn Claire House joins our family! She was a tiny 6 pounds, 15 oz, 19 inches....not the 8+ pounds we were told to be prepared for. After a relatively short labor process, complete with all the bells and whistles you hear about that "could happen, but are unlikely", Jocelyn arrived and was squealing away as Daddy put her first diaper on!
April 20, 2009
I believe in my previous post I said "one more week" until Jocelyn arrives....WRONG! We went for another checkup this morning and the doctor said he would be seeing us TONIGHT at the hospital when we check in for a Tuesday delivery! You have not seen two people move so fast! (side note....I may have had a hunch that something like this would happen, which is why I spent April 19 doing things like vacuuming baseboards and moving living room furniture in order to clean behind it)
